1. Agreement

By subscribing to or using Hush Hollow, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.

2. The service

Hush Hollow emails you a gentle, age-appropriate bedtime story for your child — as text and, on audio tiers, as narration in a voice you choose: our warm house voice, or, on the In Your Voice tier, the cloned voice of a parent or family member created from a recording made with consent (§6). During any free-trial period, stories are narrated in a house voice; family voices are set up after your first payment. Stories are fiction set in the imaginary world of Hush Hollow. Delivery cadence and features depend on your plan and may evolve.

3. Your email is your account

There is no app or login. Your email address identifies your account, and you manage everything — changes and cancellation — by replying to story emails or contacting us. Keep access to your email secure; anyone with access to it can manage the subscription. Where one household email covers more than one child, changes are applied to the specific child's story thread you reply on. Changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect. Each night's story is prepared in advance, so a change requested close to your scheduled delivery time — including a change to the delivery time or time zone itself — may not apply until the following night's story.

The account email is the email used at checkout. Stories are delivered to, and the account is managed from, the email address used to purchase the subscription through our payment processor — we cannot act on requests from other addresses. Gifts are the one exception — see section 3a.

3a. Gifts

Any plan may be purchased as a gift. Gifting works as follows, and these allocations of decisions are deliberate:

  • The purchaser provides only the recipient's email address (and optionally their first name for our greeting). The purchaser does not provide — and we do not collect from them — the child's name, bedtime, or any other detail about the child.
  • The recipient (the child's parent or legal guardian) must accept the gift before anything begins. At acceptance, the parent provides the child's first name (or two children's names for a shared story), sets the delivery time, and — on voice plans — chooses exactly whose voices may narrate. The parent may also decline the gift, in which case nothing is set up, any details are deleted, and control of the subscription returns to the purchaser (who may keep it for themselves or cancel).
  • No voice is recorded before approval. Each person the parent designates (including the purchaser, if chosen) receives a private recording link, and recording only proceeds after that person accepts the voice consent themselves. Consent to a voice recording is personal and cannot be given on someone else's behalf.
  • The purchaser is told only whether the gift was accepted or declined, and — if applicable — that their own voice was requested. The child's details and the family's other choices are not shared with the purchaser.
  • Billing stays with the purchaser's payment method. From acceptance, the recipient's email is the account: stories arrive there and all changes are made from there. A designated gift email that already has its own Hush Hollow account can't be re-used automatically; contact us and we'll join the child to it.
  • Either side may end a gifted subscription. If the recipient replies "STOP", the stories stop immediately, the family's data is deleted as section 5 describes, and we end the subscription at the close of the current billing period like any other cancellation. By purchasing a gift you agree that we will NOT notify you if the recipient stops it — your subscription simply ends at the end of the then-current billing period and is not renewed or charged again. The recipient's decision and reasons are theirs; if you ask us, we will confirm only that the subscription was no longer needed. If the purchaser cancels, the recipient is told only that the gift subscription has ended — no explanation — and offered the chance to continue under their own payment at a matching plan; we hold the family's names, stories, and voices for 7 days for that takeover (the one exception to deletion-on-cancellation), then delete everything if no takeover occurs.

4. Eligibility & children

You must be at least 18 and the parent or legal guardian of the child whose profile you provide (or otherwise authorised to provide it). You are responsible for the information you give us about your child and for obtaining any needed permission from other people you name. Do not submit another person's voice unless that person has provided the required consent through the process we or our voice provider specify.

5. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation

  • Plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor (Stripe), in the currency shown at checkout (CAD or USD).
  • Founding pricing is provisional and may change; we'll give notice of any price change before it affects your next renewal.
  • The In Your Voice tier is priced by the number of family voices you select at checkout. If we later offer metered-nights packaging, the price will reflect the nights you select.
  • You may ask to upgrade or downgrade without cancelling and re-subscribing. Upgrades are prorated and, if you are within a free trial, an upgrade ends the trial and billing for the new plan starts immediately — trial weeks cover the plan that was purchased, not upgraded features. Downgrades take effect per the billing handling confirmed at the time of the change.
  • Cancel renewal any time by replying "cancel." By default we schedule cancellation at the end of the current billing period: your purchase stays valid and stories continue until then. If you prefer, reply "DELETE NOW" and we cancel and erase immediately. Either way, the current billing period remains payable and we don't provide partial-period refunds unless required by law.
  • Gifted subscriptions can be ended by the recipient. If a gift recipient stops the service, the subscription ends at the close of the current billing period without notification to the purchaser (see section 3a) and without partial-period refunds.
  • Cancellation means deletion. When your cancellation takes effect (at period end, or immediately on "DELETE NOW"), we permanently delete your children's names and profiles, story history, rendered audio, voice recordings, and voice clones. We retain only the payment records and account email that accounting and tax law require us to keep. There is no archive and no recovery: if you re-subscribe later, names and voices must be set up again from scratch.
  • A one-time voice-setup fee may apply outside founding-launch promotions.

6. Voice recordings & your grant to us

  • If you use a voice tier, you confirm you have all necessary rights or consents to record, upload, clone, and use any voice sample you provide.
  • You grant Hush Hollow a limited licence to process your voice sample to create a synthetic voice profile and to use that profile solely to narrate your account's stories. We do not use your voice to train Hush Hollow general models, sell it, publish it, or add it to a public voice library.
  • If we use a third-party voice provider, such as ElevenLabs, your upload and generated audio may also be governed by that provider's terms, acceptable-use rules, privacy policy, and voice verification requirements. For ElevenLabs, this includes their Terms of Service, Prohibited Content and Uses Policy, and Privacy Policy.
  • You may withdraw this grant and delete your voice data at any time (see the Privacy Policy). Deletion ends our ability to render new stories in that voice.
  • Voice likeness — what we promise and what we don't. A synthetic voice profile is an AI recreation of the sample you provide — a mechanical process rendered for sound consistency, clarity, and quality control, not a recording of the person. We review every voice for quality before it narrates a story and we work to improve how well each voice represents its person, but we do not guarantee an exact or near-exact match to any person's voice. If you are unsatisfied with a family voice, contact us (a reply to any story reaches us): we will re-process the voice, and if it still does not meet your family's expectations we will, at your request, move your subscription to an equivalent house-voice tier at that tier's lower price. This is the remedy for voice likeness; likeness alone is not a defect for refund purposes beyond it.

7. Availability & interruptions

We work to deliver stories reliably, but Hush Hollow depends on ordinary infrastructure: electricity, internet access, hosting, email delivery, payment processors, voice/audio tools, and other third-party services. Those systems can fail, slow down, be maintained, or become unavailable. A service interruption, delayed story, missed email, temporary outage, provider failure, or loss of internet or power does not entitle you to a refund, credit, chargeback, or other compensation unless required by law. When something breaks, our remedy is to restore service and resume delivery as soon as reasonably practical.

8. Stories & acceptable use

Stories are for your family's personal, non-commercial enjoyment. Please don't resell, redistribute, or publicly perform them, or use the service to create content that is unlawful or that impersonates someone without consent. You may not use Hush Hollow or any generated audio for illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful purposes. We apply content-safety checks but you remain responsible for deciding what is suitable for your child.

Keeping your stories — and our limited hosting. Each night's story is yours to keep: you may download it from the email and save it forever. We host each personalised recording for about 10 days as a convenience, then delete our copy and the link stops working. Hush Hollow is not a permanent archive — we don't guarantee a story will be retrievable from us after its window, so download anything you want to keep. (Reusable non-personalised "house" recordings are retained as part of our library.)

9. Ownership

The Hush Hollow world, characters, names, and the underlying software are our intellectual property. You keep ownership of your voice recording and your child's profile information; you grant us the limited rights described above to provide the service. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to enjoy the stories we deliver to you.

10. Disclaimers & liability

Hush Hollow is a comforting bedtime product, not a medical, therapeutic, or developmental service, and makes no guarantee about sleep outcomes. The service is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms as the service grows. Material changes will be communicated by email or on this page; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
